Lab data
Papaya potency: THC, CBD and terpenes from 262 lab tests
In 262 state lab tests, Papaya flower had a median total THC of 21.70%, with the middle half of results between 17.43% and 26.71%.1 CBD is negligible, and limonene leads the terpene profile in the 98 tests that report individual terpenes, although Leafly lists myrcene first.1,2

How published THC figures compare
Strain databases publish a single figure or a range: Leafly lists 17% THC, AllBud 20–25% and Weedmaps 18–25%.2,3,4 Seed sellers differ by version: Nirvana Seeds rates its current feminized Papaya as medium, 13–18%, and its description says it tested at 18%, while Crop King lists 15–25% for its Jack Herer × Skunk #1 seed.5,6,7
In our lab data, half of Papaya flower tested below 21.70% and 90% below 29.01%; 35.9% reached 25% or more, and the highest result was 34.66%.1 Leafly’s 17% and Nirvana’s 13–18% sit below that median, while AllBud’s and Weedmaps’ ranges take it in.1,2,3,4,5 State medians ran from 15.90% in Maryland (26 tests) to 27.41% in Nevada (92), so where a batch was grown and tested matters as much as the name.1
Crop King lists 0.50% CBD and Nirvana calls its CBD low; in our data, none of the 185 tests that reported CBD reached 1%.1,5,7 Leafly lists CBG at 1%; our lab figures do not include CBG.1,2

Limits of this data
- Coverage is uneven. Nevada (92), Michigan (73), Washington (57), Maryland (26), California (5), Colorado (4), Hawaii (4) and Massachusetts (1) supply all 262 tests, which date from 2017 to 2024. Of these, 74 carry no test date, all from Nevada, so the yearly figures leave out most of Nevada’s results, the state with the highest median. Oregon and Rhode Island results carry no product names and could not be matched.
- Medians differ sharply by state, from 15.90% in Maryland (26 tests) to 27.41% in Nevada (92). One producer supplied 48.5% of the 163 tests that name a producer (Maryland and Michigan records name none), so one grower’s flower weighs heavily on these figures.
- Some labs report higher THC than others, so we publish medians and middle ranges rather than maxima. No single lab accounts for more than 19.4% of the tests with a recorded lab (25 labs in total); 4 tests, all from Hawaii, have no lab recorded.
- Terpene medians come from 98 tests with individual terpene values, from Nevada (92), California (5) and Massachusetts (1); Maryland reports only total terpenes, and Washington, Michigan and Hawaii report none. We matched names strictly: 1,680 results under near-miss names such as "Sour Papaya" and "Papaya Cake" are excluded and counted, 77 Washington flower results with only a generic product name were left out, and duplicate certificates are removed.
